EU and non-EU trade in goods

EU trade in goods

In August 2025:

EU exports were £12.8 billion:

    • down by £2.5 billion or 16% compared with July 2025
    • down by £1.5 billion or 11% compared with August 2024

EU imports were £25.2 billion:

    • down by £3.9 billion or 13% compared with July 2025
    • up by £0.9 billion or 3.7% compared with August 2024

for EU trade, the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £12.4 billion.

 

Non-EU trade in goods

In August 2025:

Non-EU exports were £15.6 billion:

    • down by £4.5 billion or 22% compared with July 2025
    • down by £1.6 billion or 9.0% compared with August 2024

Non-EU imports were £27.2 billion:

    • down by £6.4 billion or 19% compared with July 2025
    • down by £0.1 billion or 0.4% compared with August 2024

for non-EU trade, the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £11.5 billion.
