Summary of trade trends
In November 2021:
- total goods exports were £29.8bn:
- down by £4.1bn (12%) compared with October 2021
- up by £1.6bn (5.6%) compared with November 2020
- total goods imports were £48.6bn:
- up by £3.1bn (6.8%) compared with October 2021
- down by £0.2bn (0.4%) compared with November 2020
- the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £18.8bn, widening by £7.1bn on October 2021
EU and non-EU trade in goods
EU trade in goods
In November 2021:
- EU exports were £14.7bn:
- up by £0.3bn (1.8%) compared with October 2021
- up by £0.3bn (2.0%) compared with November 2020
- EU imports were £20.9bn:
- up by £1.3bn (6.8%) compared with October 2021
- down by £2.7bn (11%) compared with November 2020
- for EU trade, the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £6.3bn
Non-EU trade in goods
In November 2021:
- Non-EU exports were £15.1bn:
- down by £4.3bn (22%) compared with October 2021
- up by £1.3bn (9.3%) compared with November 2020
- Non-EU imports were £27.7bn:
- up by £1.8bn (6.8%) compared with October 2021
- up by £2.5bn (10%) compared with November 2020
- for non-EU trade, the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £12.5bn
