Overseas Trade Statistics - EU Latest Release

In April 2015 the value of exports (EU and non-EU) decreased to £26.4bn, and imports (EU and non-EU) also decreased to £33.3bn, compared with last month. Consequently the UK is a net importer this month, with imports exceeding exports by £6.8 billion.

Key Points
  • EU Exports for April 2015 are £11.0 billion. This is a decrease of £0.8 billion (6.7 per cent) compared with last month and a decrease of £1.4 billion (12 per cent) compared with April 2014.
  •  EU Imports for April 2015 are £17.6 billion. This is a decrease of £2.2 billion (11.0 per cent) compared with last month and a decrease of £0.4 billion (2.4 per cent) compared with April 2014.
  • EU trade is a net importer this month, with imports exceeding exports by £6.6 billion. 
  • The proportion of exports to the EU is 41 per cent. Over the past 18 months, this has ranged from 41 per cent to 51 per cent. Similarly, the proportion of imports from the EU is 53 per cent. Over the same period, this has ranged between 49 per cent and 56 per cent.
