Threshold Example

How the threshold works

This is a record of a company's trade with EU Member States for 2017. As you can see, they exceeded the 2017 threshold (£1,500,000) for arrivals in August, and would have had to start submitting Intrastat Supplementary Declarations (SD’s) from and including August up to December.

As the company's yearly arrivals trade for 2017 (totalling £1,922,650) exceeded the threshold set at £1,500,000 for 2018, they will need to continue to submit Intrastat arrivals SD’s for the whole of 2018 as well.

The same company exceeded the 2017 threshold for dispatches in November, and would have had to submit Intrastat SDs for November and December 2017, and for the whole of 2018 as well.

NB. You must continue to submit SDs, until you are below the threshold for a full calendar year.

Example only: the threshold for 2018 is £250,000 for Dispatches and £1,500,000 for Arrivals. If your total arrivals or dispatches trade at the end of December 2018 is below these thresholds, then your last SD would be December 2018. See Notice 60 for additional information.
