EU and non-EU trade in goods

EU trade in goods

In January 2025:

EU exports were £13.7bn:

    • up by £0.7bn (5.2%) compared with December 2024
    • down by £1.0bn (6.9%) compared with January 2024

EU imports were £23.5bn:

    • down by £0.7bn (2.7%) compared with December 2024
    • down by £2.1bn (8.1%) compared with January 2024

for EU trade, the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £9.9bn

Non-EU trade in goods

In January 2025:

Non-EU exports were £29.4bn:

    • up by £5.9bn (25%) compared with December 2024
    • up by £9.1bn (45%) compared with January 2024

Non-EU imports were £27.1bn:

    • down by £0.5bn (1.7%) compared with December 2024
    • up by £2.5bn (10%) compared with January 2024

for non-EU trade, the UK was a net exporter, with exports exceeding imports by £2.4bn
