Summary of trade trends
In March 2024:
total goods exports were £34.1bn:

- up by £0.1bn (0.4%) compared with February 2024
- down by £4.0bn (10%) compared with March 2023
total goods imports were £50.8bn:
-
- up by £3.5bn (7.4%) compared with February 2024
- down by £7.2bn (12%) compared with March 2023
the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £16.7bn, widening by £3.4bn on February 2024
EU and non-EU trade in goods
EU trade in goods
In March 2024:
EU exports were £15.3bn:
-
- up by £0.6bn (3.7%) compared with February 2024
- down by £2.0bn (11%) compared with March 2023
EU imports were £26.7bn:
-
- up by £0.5bn (2.0%) compared with February 2024
- down by £4.0bn (13%) compared with March 2023
for EU trade, the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £11.5bn
Non-EU trade in goods
In March 2024:
Non-EU exports were £18.8bn:

- down by £0.4bn (2.1%) compared with February 2024
- down by £2.0bn (9.6%) compared with March 2023
Non-EU imports were £24.0bn:

- up by £3.0bn (14%) compared with February 2024
- down by £3.2bn (12%) compared with March 2023
for non-EU trade, the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £5.2bn
