Summary of trade trends
In June 2022:
- total goods exports were £32.8bn:
- down by £3.7bn (10%) compared with May 2022
- up by £5.5bn (20%) compared with June 2021
- total goods imports were £54.5bn:
- up by £0.9bn (1.8%) compared with May 2022
- up by £9.5bn (21%) compared with June 2021
- the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £21.7bn, widening by £4.6bn on May 2022
EU and non-EU trade in goods
EU trade in goods
In June 2022:
- EU exports were £16.3bn:
- down by £0.7bn (4.0%) compared with May 2022
- up by £2.4bn (17%) compared with June 2021
- EU imports were £27.2bn:
- down by £0.3bn (1.2%) compared with May 2022
- up by £7.6bn (39%) compared with June 2021
- for EU trade, the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £10.9bn
Non-EU trade in goods
In June 2022:
- Non-EU exports were £16.5bn:
- down by £3.0bn (15%) compared with May 2022
- up by £3.1bn (23%) compared with June 2021
- Non-EU imports were £27.2bn:
- up by £1.3bn (4.9%) compared with May 2022
- up by £1.9bn (7.5%) compared with June 2021
- for non-EU trade, the UK was a net importer, with imports exceeding exports by £10.7bn
