Take part in the Ancillary Cost Survey
Use this service if HMRC has invited your business to take part in the Ancillary Cost Survey.
This survey is voluntary and helps HMRC to improve the quality of overseas trade statistics.
Before you start
Do not take part in the survey if you only use the following delivery terms, which do not incur extra costs:
- ‘delivered at place’ - this is where the seller bears the cost of transport and risks until delivery at a named place
- ‘ex-works’ - this is where the seller delivers when the goods are placed at the buyer's disposal at the seller's premises or another named place, such as a warehouse
If you are unable to complete the survey for any reason, you do not need to contact us.
What you will need
You will need to provide your:
- company name
- VAT registration number and 3-digit branch ID (if you have one)
- email address
We will ask you to provide details of up to 6 lines of data from an Intrastat declaration you submitted in the last 12 months. These details are:
- Commodity code
- Value
- Delivery terms
- Net mass
- Country
- Ancillary cost (the cost incurred in transporting the goods, including freight and insurance charges)
