In January 2015 the value of exports decreased to £10.9bn, while imports also decreased to £16.9bn, compared with last month. Consequently the UK is a net importer this month, with imports exceeding exports by £6.0 billion.

Key Points
  • EU Exports for January 2015 are £10.9 billion. This is a decrease of £0.3 billion (2.9 per cent) compared with last month, and a decrease of £1.4 billion (11.5 per cent) compared with January 2014.

  • EU Imports for January 2015 are £16.9 billion. This is a decrease of £1.0 billion (5.8 per cent) compared with last month, and a decrease of £0.9 billion (5.3 per cent) compared with January 2014.

  • The UK remains a net importer this month, with imports exceeding exports by £6.0 billion. This is a decrease of £0.7 billion (10.6 per cent) compared with last month, but an increase of £0.5 million (8.4 per cent) compared with January 2014.
